Communications/Digital Coordinator

Job Description:

The Communications/Digital Coordinator for the Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce (FWKCC) supports the organization’s efforts to both execute and monitor communications and digital strategies, including regular communication with both the President/CEO and the Membership/Finance Director to continually evolve the chamber’s communication efforts with existing and potential members, the general public, and municipal entities. This position requires the individual to have superior verbal/written communication skills. As part of the needs of a small and often fast-paced office, the right candidate will have the ability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines, plus the willingness to be another friendly face willing to help the varied visitors to our office as needed, as every chamber staff must do. The Communications/Digital Coordinator, like all chamber staff, attends all chamber events in order to create content, build and maintain a good rapport with the membership with whom they work closely, and become aware of items needing to be communicated that they may not have learned of otherwise. This is especially important as the Communications/Digital Coordinator creates content for both the print/electronic newsletters and is a primary contributor to the Chamber’s digital presence. This position is salaried, with full employee medical/dental/vision benefits (following a 90 day probationary period) and reports directly to the Chamber President/CEO.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Actively present at all Chamber events including networkings, ribbon cuttings, speaker events or workshops, and major events, interacting positively with membership, guests and government entities in order to:
a. Be present to create the content needed for digital or print platforms. Includes taking photos or videos.
b. To generally enhance the views of the organization, promoting increased membership and interest as all staff and volunteers must do.
c. To enhance their role as part of a small and effective staff team.
2. Become familiar with the chamber’s current communications platforms/efforts, stay up to date on industry trends, and propose improvements as part of creating new strategies and goals.
3. Create and update content for monthly print newsletter inserted in the farragutpress (37,500 distribution) and other print materials.
4. Create and update content for the weekly digital e-newsletter, with a goal to maintain and increase the current average 30+% open rate, as well as improve and monitor click rates, email list accuracy and related tasks.
5. Create and update content for the chamber’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn) with a goal to monitor and improve engagement rates.
6. Learn the chamber’s current database system, especially as to being able to monitor auto-shared content to social media or web, improve its content, etc.
7. Work with the webmaster to create and update content for the chamber’s website and improve analytics
8. Effectively work alongside committee volunteers as needed.
9. Provide backup support to the office in general as needed.

1. Professional presence within and outside of a very public office.
2. Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills.
3. Sincere love of working with people both individually and in large groups.
4. Marketing experience a plus!
5. Ability to work a flexible 40-hour work week to accommodate changing event schedules.
6. Superior time management, organization skills, and attention to detail to facilitate ability to work in a fast-paced and varied work environment with shifting deadlines.
7. Must be able to work proficiently with internet, MS Office software, social media and other office equipment.
8. Proven knowledge of communications and marketing ethics and best practices.
9. Proven Creative design technology experience (i.e. Photoshop, Canva, etc).
10. Photography skill needed.
11. Database experience a plus.
12. Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere. Self-starter absolutely required. (See a need? Meet it!)
13. Ability to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check.

Targeted start in January 2022. This is a salaried position with paid employee medical benefits (medical, dental, vision), paid holidays, paid PTO, and reasonable ability to flex schedule in conjunction with the chamber’s varying event schedules.
