Gulf & Ohio Railways was founded in 1985 and currently operates four short line railroads, the Knoxville & Holston River, the Lancaster & Chester, Yadkin Valley, and the Laurinburg & Southern. We also operate a tourist train ride called the Three Rivers Rambler near downtown Knoxville during the Fall and Christmas seasons. Our locomotive shop, Knoxville Locomotive Works, is a manufacturer of the KLW Single-Engine Series line of repowered locomotives. These locomotive offer the best in terms of emissions, fuel efficiency, and tractive effort. With offices and managers in the Knoxville community, our short lines, tourist train, and locomotive manufacturing facility demonstrates our outstanding customer service on a local and national level.
