Planning Releases Annual Facts & Figures Report

Each summer, Knoxville-Knox County Planning releases Facts & Figures, its report that highlights local natural, commercial, and cultural features in the Knoxville area.

This year’s edition shows that Knoxville continues to be a great place to live, raise a family, and own a business, ranking 10th “Most Affordable Place to Live” in the nation and number one on the “Best Places to Live in Tennessee” lists by U.S. News.

Knoxville maintains a low cost of living, even as housing prices were on the rise over the past couple of years. While the median home price in Knox County remained steady since 2022 at $325,000, rents have continued to climb, up from $933 per month to $1,023 over the past year.

Other notable highlights in the report are outdoor amenities that make the area unique and provide a national draw. These include hiking and biking at Baker Creek Preserve, over 65 miles of multi-use trails in Knoxville’s Urban Wilderness, many miles of local blueways, and proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
